Joanna Tang Sitie
Hi everyone!! I am Joanna Tang Sitie from Beijing, now studying in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a major in Economics and Finance. I just finished my second year of study, and am excited about the summer break when I will meet you guys in XSEL!!
I got my very first impression about social entrepreneurship in my first year of college from China Entrepreneur Network (same as Synix ). Through the two years in CEN, from sub-committee to the executive committee, I attend many se-related events to learn and to network. Apart from active participation, I also organized several events including guest talks and summer internships, to help promote social entrepreneurship among the youth.
One hobby not related to social entrepreneurship: photography. I like to play with my camera, modifying it to take the best photos. It gives me a time to slow down and relax, as well as to see the world from different perspectives. I do have many other passions in life, hope I can let you know more about me and get to know more about you during XSEL! XD
As for the most exciting thing to do… Really hard to say; I have millions of fantasies about the amazing program: enjoying the campus life, making friends, sharing dreams… I think the core should be exploring the true me with the support of the rest and helping the rest with all I have. I want to be inspired by my outstanding peers and try to somehow spread inspirations myself.
If I had unlimited money... Top three things come to my mind: run art galleries, donate to medical groups and drama groups. My galleries would support the ambitious talents to pursue their artistic dreams, encourage ordinary people to enjoy the beauty of art and support the people “on the margin of the society” with the power of art (e.g. the project“1+1”, charity sales of arts made by people with depression). I like the way arts impress and inspire people and the fact that them carry on a piece of human history. Donation to medical groups may sound a little bit lame but I do believe such “free money” can lower down the price of medicines and help save more lives. As for the donation to drama groups, I have to admit that it is more of a personal preference.
