Take the Lead: Ways to Be a Leader in XSEL
There are many ways to practice your leadership skills during the program. We invite you to try them all, but please choose at least one:
Team Project Host - due July 31
During the program, we will work in teams on real life social innovation projects. You have the opportunity to propose a project that you are passionate about to the entire group. If you are interested in proposing a project, follow these steps:
- Download the Team Project Template.
- Follow the instructions on the template and make your own presentation to explain your project.
- Email your presentation to Melissa: [email protected]
V-Talk
The V-talks are an opportunity for you to reflect on a moment that was significant to you as an individual and share it with the group in a 3 minute presentation. This does not have to be related directly to what has been covered in the program. The aim is for you to be open to this kind of reflection as part of your personal and professional development. You will have the opportunity to practice with staff to hone your storytelling skills. What significant moment do you want to tell us about?
Talent Show
This is an opportunity for you to express yourself through your interests and talents. It also allows you to get to know other participants better. If you want to show us your talent, don't forget to bring any special equipment you need (example: musical instruments). What talent do you want to share?
Lead Short Activities
During mornings and breaks, there will be chances to lead small activities to energize, get to know each other, and create a good atmosphere. What kinds of activities do you want to lead?
MyProject
Everyone will have a free day in San Francisco to brainstorm and implement a self-designed project. This can be done in small groups and should involve going out into the community. It could be visiting another organization or conducting some kind of survey or public activity. We welcome your imagination. The parameters are open-ended to give you a chance to take advantage of your time in the US to explore your own ideas. What will your MyProject be?
