Ruth Natalia
Hello everyone! It has been nice reading all of your greetings and can’t wait to meet you face to face! My name is Ruth. I study in Hong Kong, specifically at HKUST, where I major in Finance and Management. I am a penultimate year student pursuing a BBA, and after an internship in Hong Kong last year, I am now in Jakarta interning as an investment analyst. Why Jakarta? Well, I actually come from Indonesia; you might be familiar with its tourist spot like Bali. If you ever plan to go there in the future, do make a stop in Jakarta!
I have to admit that I have a lot to learn about social entrepreneurship – but I’m excited about the idea of utilizing our otherwise idle resources & network to create positive impact in our community. I’m especially interested about social entrepreneurship in education, because education is one thing people can’t take away, and one that could help a community to grow itself. Last year, my team and I initiated and did a community service program focused on educational activities for the mentally challenged community in Hong Kong, which is still continued until now. We learnt and had a lot of fun with the recipients; and hopefully we had helped open a channel for people to serve this underserved community.
I’m not particularly into sports, which might explain that my way of de-stressing is through (sitting &) watching plenty of movies – be it of different genre, origin or era. If I have unlimited money, I would like to establish a humble organization that provides nutritious, good-quality food to underserved villages and schools. It can also be used to establish educational institutions and hire people needing jobs, especially the disabled.
When we meet, I would love to learn more from your experiences and brainstorm together – and especially combine our experiences to create something positive!
