Silky Jain
Hey guys! Hope all of you are well and I am really excited to meet and get to know every single one of you individually! To introduce a little about myself, my name is Silky Jain and I am from Hong Kong studying at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I am currently majoring in Marketing and doing a minor in Social Science. I have been bought up in Hong Kong, however still am not able to speak the local language (it really isnt easy haha).
From my past social entrepreneurship skills, I try to put in some time towards social work as much as I can but I still have a lot to learn and make more time to understand how different resources can be used to create a new idea. On a personal level, I believe I will enjoy the XSEL a lot and why this would be is because of my interest in developing and combining ideas together. Being a marketing major, I study how to motivate people to do something and from taking social science courses, you learn how people think when you try to motivate them. In regards to this with social entrepreneurship, there is a large connection as to what people need, why they need it and how they think they can achieve it.
Other than that side of me, I love to dance, meet new people and cook. I am a strict vegetarian so I do only cook veg food. I also love to use creative and fun ways to get work done so that they do not usually bore you and you keep yourself entertained.
If I had an unlimited supply of money, I would firstly like to build a school in India for kids who are unable to afford education. Kids are the future of the world and if we are able to educate the new generation, we can hope to expect a better world for the future. Yet, I cannot just open a school without any experience. Therefore, I would try to use a part of the money to gain as much experience as for how I can allocate my resources in a useful way and at the same time gain the most out of it. Moreover, without lying, I will do a little bit of shopping as I love to collect perfumes.
Hope you enjoy reading about me and I look forward to meet with you all. See you in Stanford.
