Weihua Hu
Nice to meet you, everyone! I'm Weihua Hu, a junior student from the University of Tokyo, majoring in Mathematical Engineering. I love statistics and I'm especially interested in the field of data mining, which is a statistical method to analyze big data! It is a very hot topic these days and can be applied to everywhere: from creating effective marketing plans to recognizing certain patterns.
I'm a so-called JBC, Japan Born Chinese. I speak three kinds of languages in different places: Japanese at school, Chinese at home and English at a English speech club in our university. Please feel free to talk to me in any of the languages :)(Maybe only English during the program lol)
I'm interested in social entrepreneurship because unlike government and traditional organizations, which are rigid and bureaucratic, social entrepreneurship can take innovative approach to solve complex social problems. When I was in high school, I read a essay about a twelve-year-old girl, who approached the problem of orphans in Africa by donating cute huggable stuffed animals to African children as their “companions.” Her idea was simple but very effective and I strongly felt that I also want to make such a big difference in the world with innovative ideas. I'm currently concerned with the problem of poverty in China and various problems related to Japanese engineers. Though the program, I want to deepen my thoughts on the issues above and also look forward to finding new fields of interests!
My passion is speech! In my sophomore year, I was a leader of the English speech club and participated in many speech contests. (The photo is taken during the contest lol) It is just amazing that just a small talk can inspire people, influence people and move people. V-talk will definitely be fun!
Most of all, I want to make a lot of friends during the program and cherish every moment with you Let's have fun!
P.S. If I had unlimited money, I would solve all the social issues that I notice.
