Yuko Yokoi
Hi everyone! I am Yuko Yokoi, a first year undergraduate student at Keio University, a private school in Tokyo. It is very exciting to know many of you and I share the same interest! I can't wait to talk to you all in person!
I currently study a variety of academic subjects such as French, world history, math and so on but hoping to major in education next year. I became interested in education because, in my point of view, it is the foundation of human being. In another words how we are taught in our childhood has a huge influence on who we will become. My aspiration for the future is to contribute to nurturing the next generation better than the former generation have nurtured us.
Social entrepreneurship is something I recently started to think about so I hope to gain more profound understanding of it in this program. In order to introduce and spread new ideas about education, social entrepreneurship is very important. I have just started to be involve with a NPO called Learning for All and CANVAS, which both help enhance children's learning.
My main hobby for now is to play tennis. I started hitting the ball at the same time as I started taking piano lessons when I was 4 years old. Until I joined the tennis club in high school my main focus was to play the piano, but since high school I'm more of a tennis freak.haha In university I only practice tennis once a week but I have so much fun every time I'm on the court.
If I had unlimited money, I will launch a company in areas that suffer from poverty and give local people jobs so that they could be paid for their living. I would also love to build schools in that area and bring teachers so that the children coming form poor background can be educated enough to break away from poverty.
Thank you for reading this far! I am very excited to meet you all in August!
